How I bought the farm..

Back in ole’ days…
…and with a new family on the way, I became obsessed with organic food, nutrient density and soil building, and dreamed about starting an organic veggie coop…

Apparently.. I never give up..

During the pandemic, I lived in a tiny two bdr unit and I could hear the guy upstairs taking a piss every morning at 3am.

There was a massive construction site next door with heavy machinery tearing into the earth day and night without letup for two whole years.. I felt completely disconnected from nature, from life and from anything resembling self reliance.

In short, I could not wait to get the fuck out of there.

I searched and searched, googling rural property and driving out into the middle of nowhere for years, until finally, I found something that looked on paper at least, like it ticked all the boxes…

It absolutely did not tick all the boxes.
I bought in a pandemic market, the real estate agent misrepresented the boundary and made other legally dubious claims that would have taken 6 months of due diligence to uncover, and as a result my philosophy has necessarily become:

“make the best of what you have”

and luckily, armed with a bit of knowledge and a lot of patience, that can actually be quite a lot.

I have spent a lot of time feeling like I made a huge mistake, but how far we’ve come and where we go from here, excites me no end.

I look forward to continuing to share the story and the journey with you.

Happy food foresting!
